The Orange County Medical Society hosted its Spring Quarterly Meeting on March 10, 2010 at the University Club of Orlando. The dinner meeting featured a CME program entitled “Smoking Cessation – Butt-Kicking Brain Biology” presented by Leslie M. Beitsch, MD, JD, Associate Dean for Health Affairs and Professor of Family Medicine and Rural Health at the FSU College of Medicine in Tallahassee.
As part of the Orange County Medical Society’s partnership with Orange County Government to help provide access to health care services for low-income Orange County residents, its 2010 events are showcasing opportunities for physicians to volunteer in the community. Joseph Allgeier, DO gave a moving presentation at the meeting on being a physician volunteer with Shepherd’s Hope Health Centers.
The Orange County Medical Society’s quarterly meetings are open to all members of the society. Non-members are welcome and encouraged to attend as well. The Orange County Medical Society’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Harry P. Leu Gardens from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
